The optional modules that you can take in PBS vary substantially in terms of contact hours, workload, and exam structure. For example, NatSci modules (e.g., E&B and neurobiology) have three lectures a week, weekly supervisions, and practical’s. Due to the high amount of contact time and course content, these options generally require less extra reading than other available options and are more set in what you need to know. HSPS modules (e.g., biological anthropology, politics, sociology) have far less contact time, generally having two lectures a week and three supervisions per term. This means that there is more flexibility in what you choose to focus on and there is a lot more of your own reading and research involved compared to NatSci modules.
